A new coating for fluorescent lights contains synthetic melanin - the same material inside our eyes to reduce glare and protect against damage from sunlight and artificial light.
Recent science validates the use of melanin to protect the eyes and skin by the selective filtration of light - from both sunlight and fluorescent lighting. It goes like this:
Light damage to the eye - AND TO THE SKIN - comes from blue more than green, and green more than red;
Melanin filters blue more than green and green more than red. Of course it also eliminates all of the UV.
